Time : 60 mins

Activity : Descriptive everyday English with technology.

Topic   : Future technology with glass.

Language : Phrasal verbs, technology vocab, future tense, conditional clauses.

A Day made of Glass

 

1. Describe your average day and how you interact with technology. Start in the morning and finish when returning home after work. 

Brainstorm all the verbs, phrasal verbs and vocab that you can think of. Create a word cloud. Write it out.

Start by talking about the actions you do with your mobile phone

 

Word Cloud:

swipe, turn on, turn off, switch on, switch off, move, open, browse, unlock, touch, select, etc….

 

For example:

Alarm clock (what´s the phrasal verb? To wake up)

Shower / bathroom and gadgets in the bathroom (electric razor)

Car / transport to work ( radio / CD / GPS)  – look for phrasal verbs for all.

During work – computer, phones,

 

 

2. What predictions do you have about technologies in your everyday lives?.

 

Some example sentence beginnings are:

I think there will be

I think there could be

Maybe we will have a gadget that can …..

If I had a time machine, I would travel back to 1960.

 

3. The video is called “A day made of glass” in the near future.

The promotional video (demo) is about glass technology and the influence it will have on our lives.

Here are the tech examples from the clip. What do they mean?

4. Watch the video, make notes on the actions you see, use as much vocab and phrasal verbs as possible to describe them.

 

5. Watch the video again and pause in each scene to describe the action.

Use new vocab, phrasal verbs and strong adjectives in the description.
